Puerto Morelos Reef: A second opportunity

Posted on 21 August 2018

Never judge a book by its cover. Today I had a second chance to snorkel the reef here in Puerto Morelos and it was very different experience . You can check out the previous swim here. The water was much clearer today and the colours more vibrant. There were more fish but sadly I missed a huge ray that others saw swim by. I was too busy trying to take the photos below.

One thing I should have realised is to check the prices offered in-house from a 5-star resort hotel to what you can get by walking into town. I don’t intend to make that mistake again. The hotel charged for 810 pesos for one 45 minute session. However, from the beach, you get two 45 minute sessions for just 250 pesos. Whilst you get a guide on both trips the beach operatives explored a far superior piece of the reef.

Anyway here are the pictures of the great animals we saw. The Puerto Morelos reef has some amazing inhabitants. Gorgeous purple sea fans, colourful fish and anemones. I just wish I’d seen the huge ray……….

Antarctica -The Great White Continent

For me, nowhere stirs the imagination quite like Antarctica. The Great White Continent at the far end of the planet. Discovered less than 200 years ago and the reserve of rugged explorers and adventurers. A few years ago I was
